Visit of an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of French Republic to the Republic of Tajikistan, together with French Senators, to TSULBP and their Participation in the International Conference “Global Environmental Problems”

On April 27, 2026, Tajik State University of Law, Business and Politics hosted an official delegation of French Republic. The delegation included an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of French Republic to the Republic of Tajikistan, Ms. Elsa Pignol, as well as French senators Hervé Maurey (head of the “France–Central Asia” friendship group), David Ross, Anne-Catherine Loisier, and Pierre Barros. The guests were accompanied by Khurshed Murodzoda, representative of an Executive Body of State Authority of Sughd region, and Muqim Temurov, head of the French Cultural Center in Sughd Region.

Rector of the University, Sheroz Muminzoda, together with the university administration, warmly and respectfully welcomed the guests. During the official meeting, parties discussed important issues related to strengthening international cooperation, expanding scientific and research ties, exchanging experience, and implementing joint scientific and educational projects.

As part of the visit, an international scientific-theoretical conference entitled “Global Environmental Problems” was held with the guests participation, faculty members, and students.

The conference was opened by rector Sheroz Muminzoda, who emphasized in his speech the importance of international initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan in addressing water and climate issues. He particularly highlighted contribution of the Leader of Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, in promoting global water and climate agenda and strengthening the country’s position in the international arena.

Afterwards, Director of the University’s Center for Integration and Diplomacy, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor M. A. Akmalova, presented scientific views on measures being implemented at the national and regional levels for environmental protection and adaptation to climate change.

During the conference, presentations were also delivered on the role of scientific diplomacy, expansion of international cooperation, and approaches to solving global environmental problems.

In her speech entitled “Cooperation between the French Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan on Water and Climate Issues,” Ms. Elsa Pignol referred to an experience of bilateral cooperation and emphasized France’s readiness to expand collaboration in water resource management, environmental protection, and implementation of joint programs.

At the same time, Senator Hervé Maurey, speaking on the topic “Contribution of Youth to Climate Protection,” stressed the key role of young people in promoting environmental initiatives and fostering a culture of responsibility toward the environment.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor T. R. Rizozoda, delivered a presentation on “Modern Environmental Problems and Ways to Solve them,” proposing practical measures including introduction of green technologies, development of a green economy, and strengthening of international cooperation.

In addition, Muqim Temurov, head of the French Cultural Center in Sughd Region, shared his views on university’s cooperation with the Alliance.

The conference was held in an atmosphere of academic dialogue and constructive discussion, and the parties expressed their readiness to further expansion of cooperation in addressing global environmental problems and ensuring sustainable development.
