Scientific Conference Dedicated to the Day of Tajik Press at TSULBP
А scientific conference dedicated to the Day of Tajik Press was held in Academic Building No. 2 of the Tajik State University of Law, Business and Politics. The conference was attended by journalists from national and local media, Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Tajikistan in Sughd region, Jovidi Ashti, an editor-in-chief of the magazine “Payomi Sughd,” Tolibi Ozarakhsh, an editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Haqiqati Sughd,” Aminjon Sharifzoda, an editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Sughd Haqiqati,” Obloqul Musoev, an editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Sogdiyskaya Pravda,” Iskhakchon Zokirov, as well as university teachers and students.
The conference was opened with a welcoming speech by a university rector, Sheroz Muminzoda, who congratulated the guests on the Day of Tajik Press. He noted that the press is one of the main tools influencing public opinion, playing a significant role in the development of society and in international relations. Periodical publications and information have gradually gained special importance and are now considered one of the priority areas. On this day, which honors the history of Tajik press and its contribution to the country’s development, it is important to express gratitude to every journalist, editor, and media worker who contributes to raising public awareness and ensuring human right to access reliable information.
According to the conference program, meaningful presentations were delivered by Jovidi Ashti, Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Tajikistan in Sughd region; Jumma Yakubov, Associate Professor and chief of the Political Science chair; and Sino Gafurzoda, Head of the Department of Analysis and Public Relations.
The speakers emphasized that the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, in his Address highlighted importance of preventing the spread of false information in official media. Today, in the context of wars and global challenges information, special attention is paid to the media, as people constantly interact with information.
In the modern era, social networks have become the main environment for shaping public opinion. Studies in social psychology show that this leads to the growth of “clip thinking” (superficial thinking), a decline in deep reading and serious analysis, and an increased role of emotions over logic.
It was noted that modern Tajik journalism, as one of the main tools influencing public opinion, plays a significant role in raising public awareness.
At the end of an event, a productive Q&A session and discussion took place between students and professional journalists.
Finally, the participants were awarded symbolic gifts from the university.
