December 5, 2025, a regional scientific and practical conference entitled “Combating Corruption as a Guarantee of Social Development and Progress”, dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day, was held at the Tajik State University of Law, Business and Politics.

The conference was attended by scholars, faculty members, as well as leaders and representatives of anti-corruption agencies.

At the beginning of an event, guests and participants visited classrooms and held discussions with university students.

The conference was opened by the rector of the University, Sheroz Muminzoda, who introduced guests and emphasized that the event was held on the eve of International Anti-Corruption Day, celebrated annually on December 9. He noted that this day is not merely a calendar date, but a universal message emphasizing the importance of justice, integrity, and civic responsibility. Corruption is a negative phenomenon that hinders state development, undermines public trust, and weakens the foundations of society.

In the modern world, corruption as a dangerous and undesirable phenomenon has penetrated all sectors. It can impede economic growth, deprive citizens of equal opportunities, negatively affect a country’s international reputation, and most importantly, erode public trust in justice. Therefore, the fight against corruption is not only the responsibility of a state but also a shared mission of society and every conscious and responsible individual.

The rector proudly noted that in the Republic of Tajikistan, the fight against corruption is being consistently implemented under the direct leadership of the Leader of Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.

At the conference, substantive presentations were delivered by the representative of an Executive Authority of Sughd Region Suhrob Rustamzoda, head of the Anti-Corruption Department of the Regional Office of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption of the Republic of Tajikistan Shodkom Tursunzoda, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Professor of TSULBP, Secretary of the Public Council on Combating Corruption of an Executive Authority of Sughd Region Nazira Ghaffori, head of the Law chair at Khujand State University named after Academician Bobojon Gafurov Ibrohim Jabborzoda, head of the Law and International Relations chair of Khujand International Institute of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan Firdavs Akilov, and head of the Criminal Law, Criminalistics, and Anti-Corruption Studies chair of TSULBP Boturkhujja Qobilov.

The speakers emphasized that corruption and corruption-related offenses hinder economic development and public welfare, obstruct realization of human and civil rights and freedoms, threaten peace and stability, and lead to the most serious consequence — the loss of public trust in state institutions. In modern conditions, corruption has evolved from a domestic issue into an international problem and has become one of the global challenges negatively affecting socio-economic development and human consciousness.

Representatives of state bodies also urged students to continuously learn, acquire extensive knowledge and skills, and contribute to enhancing the legal awareness of citizens.

At the conclusion of the conference, guests were awarded certificates of appreciation by the university administration.
