Trilateral Meeting of the Presidents of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan
On March 31, a trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan was held in the ancient city of Khujand.
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of Nation, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, warmly welcomed esteemed guests, and a joint photo session of three heads of state took place.
At the beginning of a meeting, the President of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, sincerely welcomed leaders of neighboring states and once again congratulated them on the occasion of an International Navruz Holiday. He noted that “this celebration, over the course of millennia, has served to promote noble humanitarian values, mutual respect, solidarity, and harmony.”
President Rahmon emphasized that “our countries and peoples are bound by strong ties of longstanding friendship, good neighborliness, and shared development.”
“We in Tajikistan highly value our relations with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, which are based on good neighborliness, equality, mutual respect, and consideration of each other’s interests,” stated the Leader of Nation in his remarks.
The Head of State described comprehensive development of relations among three countries as “one of the priority directions of Tajikistan’s foreign policy.”
President Rahmon called the signing of an Agreement between the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the point of convergence of state borders of three countries “a very significant event.”
H.E. Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with fruitful outcomes of his recent state visit to Kyrgyzstan, noting that Tajikistan is determined to make every effort in the future to lay necessary groundwork for constructive and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
The President also expressed satisfaction with signing of a Treaty on Allied Relations and an exchange of ratification instruments, emphasizing that this historic agreement “marked the beginning of a qualitatively new phase in Tajikistan–Uzbekistan relations.”
He added, “We are highly optimistic about the future of strategic partnership and alliance between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.”
In conclusion, H.E. Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that outcomes of a current meeting of the leaders of three neighboring countries “will contribute to strengthening of friendship, good neighborly relations, mutual understanding, respect and trust, as well as constructive and effective cooperation between our states and our brotherly peoples.”
