Fighting Negative Phenomena

On February 11, 2025, a meeting was held with students from the joint faculty of the Tajik State University of Law, Business, and Politics in the university’s assembly hall. The meeting was focused on preventing involvement of youth in extremist and terrorist organizations, superstition, and extremism, promoting national culture, implementing the Laws of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Responsibility for Education and Upbringing of Children” and “On Regulation of Holidays and Celebrations in the Republic of Tajikistan,” enhancing patriotism and love for motherland, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The meeting was attended by the president of the Gymnastics Federation of Sogd region, Salomiy Khurshed,  president of Wushu Federation of Sogd region, Mirzodalerkhon Khurshedzoda,  vice-rector for educational affairs, associate professor Shahnoza Normatova, the head of educational affairs department Ma’rufjon Hasanov, the dean of the joint faculty, Dilobar Boymatova, and other staff, professors, and students.
The meeting was opened by the vice-rector for educational affairs, associate professor Shahnoza Normatova, who described the topic as timely and relevant. It was noted that geopolitical processes remain complex and tangled, leading to an increase in conflicts and disagreements, intensified competition, and efforts by countries to expand their influence in different regions of the world. This situation has led to emergence of unprecedented security threats, which seriously affect the basic structure of international relations. At the same time, opinions were expressed regarding the political situation in the region and the world, as well as government’s initiatives to combat modern threats such as terrorism, extremism, and an illegal drug trade.

Te head of educational affairs department Ma’rufjon Hasanov, delivered a report on the topic “Terrorism and Extremism – A Threat to the Security of Humanity.” In his speech, he emphasized that the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, stated the following: “Terrorism and extremism, like the plague of the century, represent a serious global threat, a terrorist has no homeland, nation, or religion; they are a threat to the global community and the life of every inhabitant of the planet.” He also added that one of the serious issues of the modern era, which has led to regional and international threats, is acceleration of processes of radicalism, extremism, and terrorism, which has a tendency to spread throughout the world. These actions often occur under the guise of slogans and baseless religious values. To combat radicalism, extremism, and terrorism, all segments of society must feel responsible and act together to keep society safe from the painful consequences of this, it was concluded at the end.

Then, the President of the Gymnastics Federation of the Sogd region, Salomiy Khurshed, and the President of Wushu Federation of the Sogd region, Mirzodalerkhon Khurshedzoda, spoke and mentioned that the popularity of sports in our society is clearly evident. Young people and adolescents, free from studies, engage in sports to stay healthy and in good shape, making a healthy lifestyle their profession. Sports such as wushu (kung fu) and gymnastics are gaining increasing popularity among Tajik athletes. Fortunately, young people and students are actively practicing these sports.
