International relations department was organized by the decision of the Academic Council of the University No. 1 dated 30.08.2007.
After the formation of a new structure and attracting specialists to the position of head of the department (2010) and later (2012) vice-rector for international relations, the effective functioning of the department was started.
In the new structure of the University, candidate of philosophy, associate Professor A.H. Juraev was appointed the first head of the department of international relations and later the first vice-rector for international relations of the University.
Associate professor A.H. Juraev, a graduate of the Fulbright international program, USA, made a worthy contribution to the creation and development of the main activities of the department of international relations, the annual and long-term work plans of the department, the register of documents, the duties of the vice-rector for international relations, the head of the department and specialists.
Since 2018, the Vice-rector for international relations has been appointed doctor of Economics, professor Babadzhanov D. D. International relations department staff: acting head of the department, Ph. D., associate professor Sharipov K. K.-a graduate of international programs Fulbright, USA, and Distance Education at the University of Oregon, USA, acting senior specialist of the department Maksudova M. G., specialist of the department Gaffarova Sh. N. and secretary of the department Norov S. N.
The Department’s activities are aimed to expand the University’s international relations with educational, scientific and cultural institutions of foreign countries; promoting the establishment of a close relationship between the University and the world education system, matching the quality of education with international standards and international recognition of the University’s diploma.
Today, the number of cooperation agreements has reached 68 units and expanded on the basis of signed agreements – with 32 scientific and educational institutions of the Russian Federation, 9 domestic institutions, 4 institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic, 8 educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 2 Latvian, 2 institutions of Kazakhstan, Japan, the USA, the University of Central Asia, Finland, Ukraine, Belarus, China and India. International grant projects regularly establish exchanges of students and teachers with foreign universities, especially on a short-term basis. 120 teachers and students were mobilized to foreign countries, favorable conditions were created for studying Russian and English, exchange of best practices, introduction of world experience in improving the quality of education, strengthening the scientific, educational and, finally, the University’s ability to reach the international level, which indicates that the University’s international activities are developing successfully.
To this day, the University has implemented 5 projects on international programs of the European Union. In the context of 3 international projects, several University centers were created and equipped with modern equipment: the language learning Center, the innovation laboratory, and the European training Center.
The activities of the Department’s personnel are aimed at creating new forms of cooperation with the world’s leading educational and scientific institutions, exchanging students and teachers, receiving grants from the European Union-Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, USAID, and the us Embassy in Tajikistan.
